Hilton built an incredible one off hotel room, right on hole 14 of the DP World Tour. This incredible view had to be seen by Luke Donald, Ryder Cup Captain. We created a hero piece of directed content, leading up to the end reveal and suprise of where Luke was actually staying.

  • Overview

    The DP World Tour marks one of the most exciting dates in the golfing calendar, attracting a glittering line-up of the world’s top players to the palm trees and warm weather of Dubai’s Jumeirah Golf Estates.
    For the 2022 event, our client Hilton Hotels planned something extra special, and came to Right Formula to create a unique experience - a complete Hilton Hotel room built right on the green. Celebrity guests from the world of golf were invited to stay the night, experiencing all the luxuries the Hilton brand is famous for, and waking up to a unique view of the fairway. 

    Our process

    We developed a content plan to showcase the experience, with the hero piece centred on VIP guest Luke Donald, former number one and 2023 Ryder Cup team captain. We wanted to highlight the unique setting, and create impactful content that integrated with Hilton’s ‘For the Stay’ campaign. We wrote and storyboarded a humorous script, with Luke relaxing in his room, unruffled by the pressures and stresses of the tournament, owing to the luxury and convenience of his ‘Stay On The Green‘ room. We knew that Luke’s availability for filming would be limited to a few hours, so we created a scenario that would maximise the setup, while limiting the production requirements. When we arrived in Dubai, we were gratified to find that the final construction perfectly matched up to our pre-production models, so we could execute the shots exactly as we had planned. 

    With a lean crew we filmed in the sun for 4 days, including additional wrap-around content. Given that daytime temperatures reached 40 degrees, we were grateful for the powerful air conditioning in the room itself! 


    There was a need for a tight turnaround to run content before the end of the season. Our in-house teams edited, added graphic elements and graded in parallel in DaVinci Resolve, including some VFX shots, such as object removal and background cleanup. We created teasers and cut-downs in multiple aspect ratios and formats, for distribution across all Hilton’s social platforms.
