Overview

McLaren Extreme E team is a new racing team established by McLaren Racing in 2020 to participate in the Extreme E championship. The Extreme E championship is a new motorsport competition that aims to raise awareness about the impact of climate change and promote sustainability. The Extreme E championship features electric SUVs racing in some of the world's harshest and most remote environments, such as the Arctic, the Sahara Desert, and the Amazon Rainforest. The purpose of the championship is to showcase the capabilities of electric vehicles and promote their use as a means of reducing carbon emissions and preserving the environment.
McLaren Extreme E team stands for innovation, sustainability, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the world. By participating in the Extreme E championship, the team hopes to demonstrate the potential of electric vehicles and promote the adoption of sustainable technology.

Our Process

We were tasked with creating a launch video to showcase the stunning handrawn livery illustrated by Vic Lee - The drawings on the car representing the Arctic, Ocean, Amazon and Desert - bringing together all of the locations covered on the Extreme E race calendar, which certainly beats the same stripy design you see on most liveries nowadays.

Using a combination of lighting, atmospherics, projectors and also a blacked-out corridor of the McLaren Technology Centre, we created a launch video that was to be remembered.
